Get the Skinny on Acne Skin Care Treatments

Acne_No_More

You may not think it is, but acne can be a major pain for many people, especially the younger ones among us. Acne is a condition of the skin which usually involves the hair and oil glands. It manifests itself in pimples, blackheads and whiteheads, reddishness of the skin, and cysts. Having acne on your face can certainly ruin your appearance and make you unhappy with yourself. Let us look at some of the acne skin care treatments available today.

Acne is caused by imbalances and impurities within the human body. This is why some treatments have been systemic or internal rather than topical. Some experts believe that it is better to go right to the source of the problems instead of treating the results only. Like most other biological blemishes of the body, acne can actually be prevented if you take good care of your skin and become aware of what you  consume.  Acne  skin  care   treatments   should

therefore start before the first pimple appears.

Here are some simple preventative measures that you can to help you keep your face looking good and clear all year round. As simple as they may sound though, but it takes a proactive approach and discipline to get the results you want.

Acne skin care treatments usually take two forms; topical or internal. These acne skin care treatments are used to target the four main root causes of acne. They are - Comedogenesis, Sebum production, P. acnes (the bacteria), and inflammation. One of the most basic acne skin care treatments is simple cleanliness. If you live in a hot or humid climate, you will probably find that you sweat frequently. Keeping your skin clean will help to reduce the buildup of salt on your skin, and will go a long way in keeping your skin clear of acne.

Since you can treat acne both internally and externally, which of these two is the better method of treatment? Experts will promote one method over the other depending on what they are selling at the time. Of course, if I had to choose one, I would quickly submit that you should attack the root of the problem, not the symptom and go for internal acne treatment. However, with the advances in scientific treatments and what is available today, some might even say you should not choose any of the above! The reason is simple. Today, there are treatments on the market that are used to treat acne both internally and topically. Why not have the best of both worlds?

Internal acne skin treatments are meant to cleanse your body from the impurities that cause acne in the first place. You can cleanse and detoxify your body with scientifically proven treatments that stop acne at the source. These internal treatments will usually regulate hormonal imbalances in your system, while remove toxins and other free radicals from your body.

A word of caution is appropriate at this point however. Unless you have severe acne, you may want to reconsider internal treatments very carefully before you act. Since many internal treatments such as Accutane are available only as prescription medicine, they also have possible side effects. The potential risk of harsh chemical acne treatments is not worth it if you only have mild acne. What is more advisable, is that you  use  herbal  products  for internal acne treatments. This is because herbal acne treatments have fewer

side effects than synthetic chemical treatments. The results may not be as fast but are worth the wait.

Topical acne skin treatments also carry their own side effects, albeit of different types. However caution must be taken when using these creams and lotions for the first time. Here are a few of the more popular types of acne treatments. Retinoids are medications derived from Vitamin A. They are the treatments of choice for comedonal acne, or what are commonly known as whiteheads and blackheads. Tretinoin is one of the best known retinoids. It is marketed as Retin-A, Avita, and Renova. It is also available as a generic.

If you already have acne, do not try to touch them or squeeze them, because this can lead to permanent scars. Practitioners in this field of acne skin care treatments advocate gentle cleansing and cleaning of the affected area using an none-prescription medication and a clean/soft cotton pad. There are various acne skin care creams and lotions available over-the-counter.
